Three more ETA members, including one of the top leaders, have been arrested in France bringing the total number of ETA members detained so far this year to thirty-two.
Ibon Gogeaskoetxea, Beñat Aguinagalde and Gregorio Jiménez Morales were arrested at a rural house in Lower Normandy and are thought to have been preparing to return to Spain to carry out some sort of evil action.
The raids in France have led to the seizure of weapons, explosives, computers and other items.
Beñat Aguinagalde, aged 26 years, fled a year ago and is wanted in connection with the murders of Isaías Carrasco and Ignacio Uría.
Ibon Gogeaskoetxea, aged 45 years, is the latest in a string of top ETA leaders to be arrested, other notable ones being Mikel Garikoitz Azpiazu Rubina, known as ‘Txeroki’, Aitzol Iriondo Araza and Jurdan Martitegui.
So far this year, 2,000 kilos of explosives have been recovered in the various raids on the Basque separatist organisation.
