Work has started on improving the entrance to the village of Maro, a project valued at €100,000 and funded by the Ministry of Tourism.
The project was due to start quite some time ago but the company awarded the contract was unable to begin the work, which meant the whole administrative process had to be started all over again. This included obtaining permission from the Provincial Department of Culture as Maro is designated as a site of ‘cultural interest’ and is a protected area.
The project includes various footpaths, pavements and some work on the drainage system.
