According to the latest census information, the city of Cádiz has lost a total of 12,861 inhabitants since 2000 and Granada has lost 6,176. Most careless.
In 2000, Granada had a population of 244,486. In 2009 the figure was 238,292. Cádiz has gone from 140,061 in 2000 to 127,000 in 2009.
Cádiz and Granada are the only two cities in Andalucia to have actually decreased in population.
Elsewhere, El Ejido in Almeria has increased from 53,008 in 2000 to 84,228 in 2009. Jerez de la Frontera has also seen a dramatic increase in population, going from 183,667 in 2000 to 207,532 in 2009.
Apart from Jerez, two other Andalucian towns that are not provincial capitals have now exceeded the population of Jaén (116,557), which is a provincial capital. These are Marbella with 134,623 and Dos Hermanas with 122,943.
