The Nerja Council marked today’s International Women’s Day with a reading of the manifesto of the local Council for Equality.
In attendance were the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, the president of the Association of Women Rosario Navas, Carolina Pérez, the president of the Taller de la Amistad, Cristina Fernández, and the Councillor for Equality, Andrés Márquez.
A motion was also passed to request the National Government to ensure compliance with Article 45 of the Equality Act which states that companies with more than 250 employees must have an equality plan. In addition, the motion called for action to establish policies for reconciling work and family life.
