Eight people, three families, were forced to leave their homes in La Cala del Moral last night as a precautionary measure after a hillslide near to the arroyo Totalán affected the block of flats in which they live.
The N-331 near Antequera was closed between km 114.50 and 118.00 due to flooding yesterday and the A-7075 near Almogía remains closed after an earlier landslide.
Rain over the weekend was not particularly heavy, but it was persistent and this has caused numerous problems. The ground has been unable to absorb the enormous amounts of water, leaving muddy landscapes all over the place.
Evacuations from homes have been necessary in Estepona, Manilva, Torremolinos and Casarabonela. In Casarabonela, a rockslide badly damaged three houses. Fortunately there were no injuries.
The Bobadilla-Granada rail link was also cut between the stations of Antequera and Archidona.
The current weather, cold and wet, is set to persist until the end of the week.
