Work on repairing two rural roads damaged by the storms of September 2007 is now expected to start within the next few days after yet more ‘administrative’ delays.
The repairs are to the MA-138 connecting Maro with the beach and the MA-6102 between the old N-340 and the Rio de la Miel.
In the case of the Maro beach road, the repairs cover a 50 metre stretch on a sharp bend and basically the whole road has to be replaced. The bridge over El Arco will also be rebuilt. The cost of these repairs is €78,814.
On the road from the Rio de la Miel, the road needs to be stabilised, retaining walls built and the sewage pipes need to be replaced. The cost of these repairs is €177,825.
