Work has started on construction of the urban section of the Tranvia tram system on its way through Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz province.
The section is four kilometres long and will have seven stops. When completed, the whole Tranvia system will cover a length of 24 kilometres, have 22 stops and will enable travel between the two extremes of Cádiz in just over thirty minutes.
The Tranvia serves a population (at a distance of 500 metres or less from a stop) of 233,500 people.
The project is set to cost €34.7 million, provide 300 direct and 215 indirect jobs and has a completion period of 24 months.
