The Minister of Housing, Juan Espadas, has stated that complaints relating to urban planning crime in Andalucia have dropped by 60% in the past two years, and not just as a result of the collapse of the construction industry.
The Minister made the announcement to reporters just before attending the Fifth Conference of Prosecutors Training in the Field of Urban Discipline.
The Minister did not go into great detail, but revealed that in 2009 there were 600 denuncias for urban crimes compared to 1,600 in 2007.
This, he said, was not due merely to the collapse of the construction industry during that time but showed that there was now more respect for administrative legality as a result of the close cooperation between the various administrative bodies.
