The Councillor for the Environment, José Miguel Jimena, has filed a motion requesting the commissioning of a new statue for the picnic area El Pinarillo. The previous statue, of an Ibex, was stolen last year.
The statue, the work of sculptor Francisco Martín, weighed 200 kilos and was made of aluminium and cast iron. It was stolen early last year and has never been recovered.
The motive for the theft is unknown. As scrap metal, the value of the piece is minimal and would hardly be worth the effort.
