Málaga Council has frozen the bank accounts of a woman taxi driver after the expiration of the deadline for paying a €252 fine for being inappropriately dressed.
In the summer of 2007, Candi had just finished an airport run when she was fined by Local Police officers for wearing a tank top, considered inappropriate attire and in contravention of the local taxi bylaws.
Insistent that the fine was unfair and unjust, Candi refused to pay the fine and ignored numerous reminders. The deadline for payment has now expired and the Council has put an embargo on her bank accounts.
