Despite the wettest winter in living memory and countless storms, the vast majority of beaches in Andalucia are said to be in good condition and ready for the first holiday season of the year.
The western coast, from Málaga to Huelva, was the worst hit by the storms and in some cases, repair work has been ongoing since February. The clean-up of beaches in Málaga province has necessitated the removal of 45,000 cubic litres of rubbish, mostly branches and other items carried down by the rivers.
The Sierra Nevada ski resort is anticipating an 80% occupancy rate for hotels and in the rest of Granada province the expected rate is around 60%.
In Jaén province, almost 100% hotel occupancy is being forecast in Jaén city, Ubeda and Baeza and the natural parks and between 80% and 85% in the rest of the province.
