Vélez-Málaga Council has completed the evaluation of the investment required to create the ‘interpretation centre’ in the Playa Fenicia archaelogical park.
The cost is estimated at €2,320,000 and the Council is seeking funding through the Plan for Sustainable Tourism.
The aim of the project is to preserve the existing archaeological sites in Lower Vélez, among which are the remains of the Phoenician cities of Maenoba (Cerro del Mar), Toscanos, the necropolis of the Jardín and Casa de la Viña, the wall in Alarcón and an area in the industrial area of Cerro del Peñón.
The project envisages a constructed area of 1,368 square metres on two floors.
