Four detained in drugs bust in Granada

Four youths have been detained after a high speed car chase in Granada following an operation against drugs trafficking.

In March, a Moroccan national was detained in connection with drugs trafficking and was believed to be part of a network smuggling drugs on a large scale. Further investigation led to the discovery that a drug transaction was to take place on Wednesday of last week.

The transaction was set to take place in Parque Nueva Granada and the Guardia Civil officers staked out the area. As the youths exchanged a bag believed to contain drugs, the officers intervened.

Two of the youths fled the scene in their car at high speed, heading towards Alfacar. The car chase ended when the suspects crashed their vehicle. One police officer was slightly injured during the operation. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 3,400 ecstasy pills.

The four youths, two Spanish and two Moroccans, were duly arrested and charged with crimes against the public health.
