The municipal company for Services, Housing, Infrastructure and Promotion in Vélez-Málaga (Emvipsa) is starting a project to build a Municipal Business Centre to accommodate between 30 and 40 companies during their start-up period.
The idea is a building with a modular design to accommodate up to 40 companies and provide multipurpose spaces.
The building will have a ground floor area of 1,200 square metres plus 315 square metres mezzanine area for toilets, changing rooms and other facilities. The remaining 500 or so square metres would be allocated as a parking area.
The initiative is to promote and help new businesses by offering accommodation for a maximum period of two years and for which these companies only pay for building maintenance. Two years is considered sufficient for new businesses to consolidate and after this time they would move on to make way for other newcomers.
The budget for this project has been set at €877,000 and it is hoped to be up and running later this year. The installation includes photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate electricity.
