The Councillor for the Environment, José Miguel Jimena, has filed a motion asking the Council to contact the Ministry of Environment to request the setting up of a fire crew at the entrance to the natural park near the Nerja Caves.
The Councillor argues that the excessively wet winter means an abundance of new vegetation which, during the summer months, will become tinder dry and increase the risk of forest fires.
The choice of the site for such a fire crew, near the entrance to the Nerja Caves, is because the facilities already exist in this area.
