The Ministry of Environment of the Junta de Andalucia has published a list off 244 farms in Álora and Pizarra which are to be expropriated in connection with the laying of pipes for the proposed new water treatment plant.
The original idea was to link the towns to the wastewater system but it was finally decided to build an actual treatment plant near the river Grande.
The Junta is meeting with the owners this week and next in order to finalise details. The expropriations, 109 in Álora and 138 in Pizarra, have delayed the start of the project. The contract, worth €5.6 million, was awarded in February 2007.
