The regional executive of the PSOE has launched a campaign to reinforce the image of president José Antonio Griñán as he appears to be less well known than either his predecessor, Manuel Chaves, or even the Opposition leader Javier Arenas.
The €90,000 campaign (money which could be used to provide full-time employment for several people) aims to get Griñán known throughout the community by his colloquial name, Pepe Griñán, rather than the more formal José Antonio.
Radio spots, advertisements, videos and other forms of publicity will be used to achieve this objective.
They cite the likes of Bill Clinton and Tony Blair as examples of leaders who were not known by their formal names – William Jefferson Clinton and Anthony Charles Blair – but more by the colloquial ‘Bill Clinton’ and ‘Tony Blair’.
