A fire yesterday afternoon destroyed about 5,000 square metres of agricultural land in the Rio de la Miel area of Nerja.
The blaze started at around 17:00 and it took firemen and other personnel two hours to get it under control.
The fire began as the result of the uncontrolled burning of stubble. After a wet winter and subsequent increased vegetation, the risk of serious fires is high and the authorities are advising extreme caution when such actions as stubble burning are carried out, particularly in areas bordering the natural park.
