Monday May 3rd is the traditional Day of the Cross, and around twenty floral decorations will be adorning the streets of the mountain village of Frigiliana. At each and every cross, and these will be in the old and new parts of town, there will be honey, morcilla, chorizo, sweets and, of course, wine on offer.
From 17:00, choirs, the municipal band and dance groups will be touring the streets and visiting each cross.
The Day of the Cross in Frigiliana was a casualty of the Civil War and was only reinstituted in 1981. Unlike in many, or most towns, the Day of the Cross is not a competitive event, purely a day to celebrate and have a good time.
