The building works in Plaza Cavana are now in their seventh month and, hopefully, nearing completion. The decorative street lamps are now in place.
What seems yet unclear is exactly how the new pedestrianised area will work. According to the initial reports, the whole of Plaza Cavana, the Balcon de Europa and the bottom of calles Pintada and Cristo will all be strictly pedestrian only.
As it stands, this means that calle Granada will also be pedestrian only, at least as far as the car park exit, calle carabeo will have to be a no through road or pedestrianised and calles Diputación and El Barrio could become no through roads.
Loading bays are scheduled for calle Diputación, so either traffic will be permitted to pass in front of the Banco de Andalucia on the pedestrianised area or they will have to back out of calle Diputación onto avenida Castilla Perez, not a wise move.
It’s wait and see at the moment.
