Marine Rescue and Guardia Civil officers have rescued 49 Sub-Saharan immigrants whose boat was adrift in the Straits of Gibraltar.
The Emergency Services began receiving calls from mobile phones in the morning, the calls coming from passengers on the stricken boat to say that they were drifting in the Cádiz area, although none could give an exact location.
A search was mounted involving boats and a helicopter and the immigrants were located off Cabo Camarinal. On board the boat were 20 men, 22 women and 7 children under the age of six years.
