Both Real Madrid and Barcelona notched up 4-1 wins so the title race looks like it will go down to the last day. At the other end, survival for Málaga could also be down to the last day.
A hat-trick for Ronaldo and one from Higuaín wrapped things up for Real Madrid who remain one point behind Barcelona with two matches to play. Real are at home to Athletic on May 9th and away to Málaga on the last day of the season, May 16th.
Barcelona are still on track, and favourites, for a second successive La Liga title after a 4-1 victory over Tenerife. There were two goals for Messi and one apiece for Bojan and Pedro, with Román the lone scorer for the islanders. Barcelona’s last two matches are away to Sevilla and at home to Valladolid.
The Blue and Whites played out another draw, this time 1-1, with Athletic. Toquero put Athletic ahead after only four minutes but a quarter of an hour later Duda came to the rescue, his inswinging corner going over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
