It is still all to play for in La Liga with quite a few issues remaining to be settled on the final day of the season next week.
Barcelona were 2-3 winners at Sevilla and remain one point ahead at the top of the table. Barcelona appeared to be cruising to victory after Messi, Bojan and Pedro gave them a good half time lead, but two goals in three minutes midway through the second half brought Sevilla firmly back into the game.
This revitalisation, courtesy of goals by Kanouté and Luis Fabiano, was even more surprising as Sevilla had been reduced to ten men after Konko was sent packing for a second bookable offence.
Real Madrid were, in the end, comfortable 5-1 winners against Athletic Bilbao and keep up their challenge, although they need a good result at Málaga next week and for Barcelona to slip up in order to lift the trophy. The odd definitely favour Barcelona.
At the bottom end of the table, the Blue and Whites have slipped into the relegation places after losing 2-1 at Getafe. Bottom club Xerez had a great 3-2 win over Zaragoza and are now only three points adrift of Tenerife, Málaga, Racing and Valladolid, all level on 36 points.
Málaga’s final game is a toughie, at home to Real Madrid, so things are not looking too hopeful for the Blue and Whites!
