The five star Hotel Byblos Andaluz in Mijas Costa is set to finally close on May 31st with the contracts of the 144 staff being officially terminated.
The hotel, owned by Aifos Real Estate, opened in 1986 and was once the haunt of the rich and famous. However, along with five other similar hotels, it has slipped into bankruptcy.
All the necessary legal proceedings have been completed regarding the dismissal of staff including compensation based on twenty days pay for each year of service, this being paid by the Wages Guarantee Fund (FOGASA).
