The environmental group GENA-Ecologistas en Acción has criticised the decision by the Junta de Andalucia to register the house built by the architect Bernard Rudofsky in Frigiliana as a ‘monument’ (BIC – Bien de Interés Cultural).
GENA argue that although the house is legal and was built with a partial plan and conforms to the requirement of being ‘urban friendly’, it is from the 1970’s and they doubt it has sufficient characteristics to be listed as a monument. They believe the building would be better classified as ‘notable’ rather than as a ‘monument’.
