Vélez-Málaga Council is carrying out an accessibility plan with the aim of adapting pavements and crossings within the municipality to facilitate easier movement of the physically disabled.
The Department of Infrastructure is set to spend €150,000 – €100,000 in Vélez and €50,000 in Torre del Mar – on the second part of this plan, the works forming part of an agreement reached with the Association of Disabled (AMIVEL) in 2008.
Work is set to be carried out on calle Cristo, plaza de las Carmelitas, Canalejas, Blas Infante, Reñideros and Félix Lomas in Vélez and in calles San Martín, Miguel Hernández, Doctor Fleming, San Andrés, Genaro Rincón, Infante, Azucarera, Colón, Rodrigo Vivar, Pueblo Rocío, Moscatel, Cipriano Maldonado, Rioja and Valdepeñas in Torre del Mar.
It is a total of 161 crossing points.
