The Court of Contentious Administrative No. 6 in Málaga has rejected the application by Nerja Council for an interim halt to proceedings relating to the completion of the Nerja Museum on the grounds that it would be against the public interest and result in lengthy delays.
The Council brought the action to halt further work on the museum on the basis of ‘serious irregularities’ in the procedures relating to the securing of a bank loan. The Nerja Caves Foundation had apparently approved a motion to apply for a loan with the Unicaja bank but then actually secured the loan with Cajamar and for an amount higher than had been originally approved.
The Council has announced its intention to pursue the matter further through the courts as the battle for the Nerja Caves and party political rhetoric continues unabated.
