Frigiliana Council has set aside an amount of €63,000 in the municipal budget this year to help unemployment in the area by creating up to 14 jobs with a contract period of three months.
The Council has also approved the municipal budget for 2010, although the opposition PSOE and PP members abstained from voting. The budget is €3,942,121.72, an increase of 5% on 2009, and includes the following projects:
- Improvements to street lighting and the use of low-energy bulbs – €159,290 with 70% being funded by the Ministry of Environment.
- Construction of a multi-purpose centre – €321,944 through a grant from the Second Plan Zapatero.
- Creation of the Paseo de las 3 Culturas – €169,423.68 with financial aid from the provincial Council.
- Improvements to rural roads – €118,380,04 with assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture.
- Resurfacing of the Frigiliana to Torrox road – €116,640.39.
