A 23 year old youth is in custody in Sevilla after a 78 year old woman living in the same apartment block was found beheaded.
Initial reports indicate that the parents of the youth, 23 year old Borja B.O., returned to their home in calle Ciudad de la Oliva in the Parque Alcosa district after a weekend at the beach and when they entered the room of their son, found him lying on the bed covered in blood.
After being woken, the son claimed not to remember anything at all and so the parents drove to the police station in order to try and clarify the situation.
The police questioned the youth and then went to the apartment block to investigate and to ask neighbours if they had seen or heard anything. One youth in the area claimed he had been with Borja throughout the weekend in the Estadio de la Cartuja where, it is assumed, they could have been taking drugs.
The youth also told police that he had seen Borja arguing with someone in the block. Police located the apartment and upon entering discovered the body of a 78 year old woman. She had suffered several stab wounds and her throat had been cut.
After the incident, and for reasons as yet unknown, another resident had stabbed Borja several times, after which he returned to his home and went to bed.
Police found the knife used in the attack in a rubbish container near the scene of the attack.
