The general assemblies of the Cajasol and Caja Guadalajara have agreed upon a merger, the first interregional banking merger in Spain.
The head of Cajasur, Antonio Pulido, believes that following two earlier and successful mergers, the bank will be in a good position financially. He says he is open to all possibilities to strengthen the financial system of the savings banks provided they remain profitable and serve the interests of the customers.
The new entity will have the catchy name of Castilla La Mancha Caja Guadalajara grupo Cajasol. It will have 809 offices, 5,000 employees and €33 billion in assets.
