The PSOE in Frigiliana is asking the ruling PA to halt the proposed privatisation of the water and sewage supply and to hold a referendum on the subject to let the people decide.
The PSOE criticise the decision to privatise these utilities, an action that will bring in revenue of €600,000 this year. They say that for many years the Council has been selling off municipal plots to the highest bidder, making more than €2,255,000 in the process, yet owes around €600,000 to suppliers.
The PSOE contends that such actions are purely for electoral or other interests, a means of obtaining quick cash, and are not in the best interests of the municipality of Frigiliana.
