Ronda Council has approved austerity measures designed to save around €500,000 per year for the municipal coffers.
The Mayor, Antonio Marín, will see his salary reduced by 7% and other councillors will see their salaries drop by 6%. Those in the so-called ‘positions of trust’ will also face a 6% decrease in salary.
Allocations to the various political parties will also be reduced by 10%. These measures are in addition to the 5% reduction in staff salaries implemented by decree by the Government.
The measures were approved with the votes of the ruling party with, as one would expect, the opposition parties, PP and IU, voting against.
