The Marine Rescue Service has rescued a total of 12 people making their way to Spain in two toy boats.
Both boats were in an area about five miles off Tarifa in Cádiz province. The first group were spotted by the vessel ‘Nyk Lyra’ and later intercepted by the Marine Rescue vessel ‘Salvamar Alkaid’.
A short time later, at around 08:15 this morning, a second boat was spotted by the vessel ‘Nina’ and this too was intercepted.
All twelve passengers, of North African origin, were generally in good health although one had a bruised leg.
