The Council is launching a meal delivery service for anyone over 65 years of age who lives alone or with a dependent person.
The priority will be those over 80 years old who are living alone and at risk from social exclusion.
The food, a balanced diet, will be made in a central kitchen and distributed twice per week in a specially adapted van conforming to all the necessary hygiene regulations.
To qualify for this service, which runs until December 31st 2010, the person must be:
- Resident in Nerja
- Over 65 years of age
- Dependent on food being prepared for them due to having motor or sensory disability.
- Unable to meet nutritional needs without such a service
- Living in accommodation where the conditions are inadequate for the preparation of food.
Anyone wishing to take advantage of this service should contact the Social Services office in the Giner de los Rios centre in calle Diputación.
