A mystery buyer has bought 241,000 tons of cocoa beans in what appears to be an attempt to corner the market and, presumably, manipulate the price for their own ends.
Normally, such actions involve ‘options’ or ‘futures’, giving a trader the right to buy these commodities at a certain price at a certain time in the future.
