Rincón de la Victoria is facing an indefinite strike by municipal bus service workers as from Sunday July 25th in a dispute involving unpaid wages and health and safety concerns.
The municipal bus service is run by Rincónbus, the concession having been granted last year. Rincónbus currently operates on three routes, although this should have been four routes as from the beginning of this year, the financial crisis being blamed for the delay.
In addition, only three of the five buses owned by Rincónbus are actually operating, leading to calls for the contract with the company to be cancelled.
The six workers involved in the strike have not been paid for May and June of this year and they also complain that the buses lack basic health and safety items such as fire extinguishers and security systems.
The CGT Union will abide by the minimum service levels laid down by the Junta de Andalucia, which means there will be a 30% service. This will mean five or six round trips as opposed to the normal sixteen.
