A man has been arrested in Marchena, Sevilla, after falsely reporting the theft of his wallet near the municipal fountain while celebrating Spain’s World Cup success when, in fact, he spent the money celebrating in a local ‘alternative club’.
Thirty-four year old FJRR reported his wallet as stolen and then said that an unknown person had returned the empty wallet to him and had used his credit cards to the tune of one thousand euros.
The Guardia Civil contacted the bank and ascertained that four amounts had been charged to the credit card of FJRR at an alternative club on the A-92. In addition, the bank had returned the money to FJRR after he made the denuncia for robbery.
Staff at the alternative club confirmed that FJRR had been ‘celebrating’ at the club and he was duly arrested on charges of falsely reporting a crime and fraud.
