Guardia Civil officers in Córdoba have located the body of a five-year-old German boy who was reported missing three days ago.
The body was found in a remote mountain area known as Monte Espiel Castillo. There were no signs of violence and two backpacks and several empty water bottles were found near the body.
The boy’s mother remains at the hospital Reina Sofía in Córdoba, having been there since reporting her son missing. At the time she filed the missing persons report, she was bruised, disoriented and suffering from dehydration and was unable to provide information as to the whereabouts of her son.
The police are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry in the case.
The boy and his mother had left Germany a week ago in their car with the intention of spending the summer in Spain. They had been seen fishing on July 18th and witnesses reported that on July 19th their car had broken down and they had asked for assistance.
