A twelve-year-old Swiss boy died on Friday afternoon in Castelló d’Empúries, Girona, after becoming trapped in a tunnel in a sand dune.
The incident occurred at around 15:15 on Friday when the boy and his brother were playing on Can Comes beach. They made a tunnel in a sand dune which then collapsed, trapping the twelve-year-old boy.
His brother went for help but all attempts to revive the boy failed.
