An autopsy has confirmed that the five-year-old German boy reported missing by his mother and whose body was found in the Espiel Natural Park in Córdoba died from multiple organ failure as a result of dehydration or heatstroke.
The mother, bruised, disoriented and suffering from dehydration, reported her son missing on Tuesday although she was unable to provide any details. She was admitted to hospital and is still under observation.
The woman and her son had driven from Germany to spend the summer in Spain. The couple had been seen fishing on July 18th and on July 19th, witnesses reported that the mother had requested assistance from locals after problems with her car.
This information provided the authorities with an idea of where to begin the search for the missing boy. The body of the boy was found on Friday.
The autopsy ruled out violence as being the cause of death.
