Coín feria, one of the most important celebrations in the Guadalhorce Valley, starts today and continues until Sunday. Due to financial cuts in the municipality, the feria is two days shorter than in previous years.
The budget for the feria, in honour of the Virgen de la Fuensanta, has been reduced by just over 50% in the past three years, with €125,000 being available for this year’s event.
Tonight sees a concert by the flamenco fusion group El Bicho, the only major performance scheduled for the feria, local groups and singers being used for the rest of the time.
The procession of the Virgen de la Fuensanta takes place on Sunday at 20:00.
