A 68 year old man has died at the Hospital Reina Sofia in Córdoba after suffering from heatstroke.
The man was admitted to hospital just after 15:00 today but died a few hours later.
The Ministry of Health has emphasized the importance of avoiding exposure to high temperatures and, as a precautionary measure, advises people not to exercise in the middle of the day, to stay cool in the shade and drink plenty of water.
Athletes, workers exposed to heat, infants, elderly, disabled or chronically ill are particularly sensitive to high temperatures.
The onset of heat stroke requires urgent medical assistance. Once affected, a person needs to be placed in fresh and cool air or cold water, either in a shower, a bath or in wet clothes .
