For the second time in four decades, the plans for the proposed sewage plant in Nerja have been posted in the Official Provincial Gazette. It is at this stage that objections can be made, as they were on the last occasion nearly two years ago.
The Ministry of Environment and the Junta de Andalucia are now, apparently, treating the €37.2 million project with some urgency.
The last time the proposals were published, the Department of Coasts objected to one of the collectors running out to sea parallel to Burriana beach. This item in the project has now been removed from the plans, although no alternative solution has been found as yet.
It is still unlikely, even if everything goes smoothly for a change, that any construction work will begin before 2011 at the earliest.
