Residents in Torre del Mar have been trying for several months to get a disco in the area closed down, but despite a decree issued by the Mayor, María Salomé Arroyo, the establishment, whose license has expired, is still operating normally.
On August 3rd, Mayor María Salomé Arroyo issued a decree for the ‘the revocation or termination of the license to open’ of the club.
However, it seems that before any action can be carried out, the Chief of Sanctions of the Council must carry out an evaluation. And he is on holiday.
Lawyers representing the local residents expressed dismay at the fact that nothing can be done in Vélez-Málaga, and Torre del Mar in particular, when councillors go on vacation.
The lawyers have also criticised the disco for the condition of the emergency exit, said to be in a state of ‘total abandonment’, and the fact that holes have been made in the front of the premises which are detrimental to the soundproofing and allow the noise to escape.
