The Balcon de Europa cooperative has been producing 100% organic food for the past sixteen years and now they have opened a sales point in Nerja which means you can now buy directly from the farmers, no middle-men.
Fruits, vegetables, honey, olives, wine, beer, cosmetics, cereals, clothing and daily fresh organic bread are all available during morning and afternoon sessions. Until now, despite a known demand, the produce could only be sold wholesale or sold abroad.
However, thanks to a €150,000 grant from the Junta de Andalucia, local residents can now take advantage of these locally grown products.
Prices are, naturally(?), a little bit higher, but according to many there is definitely a different taste, smell and colour to the produce which is grown without any artificial additives or the use of pesticides and fertilisers.
The new shop is in Plaza de las Terrazas, off Avenida Castilla Perez.
