On Monday, the electricity company Sevillana Endesa cut the power supply to two Council offices and five sports centres in Jerez as a result of unpaid electric bills.
The power was cut in the Urban Planning offices in plaza del Arenal and calle Pozuelo and in the sports centres Kiko Narváez, Acuña, La Pita and La Granja and thel Campo de la Juventud.
The municipal government were apparently outraged by this action in view of the fact that they had just paid €900,000 as part of an agreement signed with Sevillana Endesa to settle outstanding debts.
The Mayor, Pilar Sánchez, has been in contact with the electric company to try and prevent such occurrences in the future and power is expected to be restored at some time today.
