As I set off this morning, the author Laurie Lee suddenly sprang to mind, and I began wondering, if he were around today, would he have changed the title of his autobiography to: As I Walked Round It One Midsummer Morning.
Never seen such a humungus pile of residual canine waste right in the centre of the pavement in avenida Castilla Perez. And by the looks of it, there had already been at least one victim. One can only hope it was a scratch-card artist!
So much for the ‘vigorous’ campaign by the Poop Squad. Hardly saw any police on the streets during July and August. A couple on the Balcon de Europa occasionally and one day of ‘vigorous’ ticketing of cars for illegal parking, that’s about it.
No regular controls at the junction of calle Diputación and avenida Castilla Perez, no frantic gesticulations from PC Waggy-Finger or tickets doled out as people parked in the taxi/loading bays in front of the chemist. No gruas. Plenty of canine residual waste, though.
The Maison de la Grillade in the little square in calle Málaga (the site formerly occupied by the Italian restaurant Dolce Vita) didn’t last very long, a week or three at most I would say. Hardly worth the effort.
Nice flower in calle Pintada.
Work has finally started on the eagerly-awaited Football 7 pitch in the Verano Azul Park, two weeks behind schedule. There’s another 100 or so free parking spaces gone. One does have to bear in mind when trying to get everyone into the (pricey) municipal car parks, not all vehicles actually fit!
In fact, a lot of nice vegetation around at the moment.
