Thirty-seven sub-Saharans, including two womwn and at least three children, have successfully made the journey from North Africa to a detention centre in Spain after their boat was intercepted off the Granada coast.
The boat was spotted about three miles from isla de Alborán and intercepted by the Marine Rescue vessel ‘Guardamar Calliope’.
The passengers, all said to be in good health, were taken to Motril where the Red Cross provided them with dry clothes before handing them over to the National Police for transportation to a detention centre.
This is the first boat to reach the Granada coast in September.
