The quadripartite Government team (IU, PSA, PIU, PP) in Torrox has finally approved the budget for 2010 which includes plans for around €10 million in infrastructure projects to be financed through the sale of various plots of municipal land.
Three of these plots of land are in Calaceite and there have so far been two unsuccessful attempts to sell them off due to the recession and the collapse of the building trade in the area.
The land in Calaceite is valued at €12 million, but the Council is now planning to offer it for around €6 million in a desperate attempt to generate municipal income.
Also included in the budget, and for the first time, are proposals from various residential groupings as part of a ‘participatory budget’.
