It doesn’t pay to be helpful

There have been at least five purse snatchings this week, the latest occurring this morning, Friday, in the Supersol supermarket.

The woman, out of the kindness of her heart, responded to someone’s request to help them get some dog biscuits down from the top shelf. While she was reaching up, her purse was swiftly removed from her bag. Everything gone. Money, credit cards, the lot.

This is a well-known ruse, someone with their hands full of items asking if you would be so kind as to reach something from the top shelf.

The thieves spoke good English but were neither English nor Spanish according to the victim.
